Editor's intro
Graphic design is visual communication: making posters, brands, books, and screens that say the right thing at a glance. Tools matter less than you'd think. What separates good work from amateur work is mostly typography, spacing, and restraint, and those can be learned deliberately. This feed puts fundamentals and eye-training first, with tool tutorials in a supporting role.
Start with a foundations course, then practise daily in small doses — the browser games here genuinely sharpen your eye. Copy work you admire to understand its decisions, and keep a folder of references. The intermediate picks go deeper on type and on running design as a business; the advanced section is for people building identities or designing typefaces.

The CalArts Graphic Design Specialization gives you a compressed version of an art-school foundation year. Across its courses you study image-making, typography, shape and color, and composition, then bring them together in a capstone brand project. The assignments are peer-reviewed, which forces you to explain your choices — a skill you'll need with every client. It is taught conceptually rather than as software training, so pair it with tool tutorials when you need them.
